Kindle Black Friday Deals 2026: What to Expect & Buy
Kindle Black Friday 2026: which models to watch, the discounts to expect based on past years, current prices as a baseline, and how to avoid overpaying.

If a Kindle is on your list, Black Friday is the time to buy. Amazon discounts its own devices harder than anything else in the sale, and Kindles hit their lowest prices of the year every November. Here is what to expect for Black Friday 2026, what last year’s floor actually was, and how to make sure a “deal” is a deal.
A note on prices: exact 2026 Black Friday prices are not announced until the sale itself. The regular prices below are the ones from our which Kindle should you buy guide, and the 2025 lows come from last year’s sale as reported at the time. We will update this page as real 2026 deals land.
Which Kindle to Buy (Decide Now)
The smartest move is to pick your model before the sale so you can act fast when the price drops on the Amazon Kindle Store. The short version:
- Most people: Kindle Paperwhite (regular $199.99). Our Kindle Paperwhite review explains why it is the default.
- Budget: Base Kindle (regular $149.99).
- Color content: Kindle Colorsoft (regular from $289.99).
- Note-taking: Kindle Scribe (regular from $429.99).
- For a child: Kindle Kids or Paperwhite Kids, see our best Kindle for kids guide.
What Last Black Friday Looked Like
The best reference for 2026 is what Amazon did in 2025, because the pattern repeats: the base Kindle and the Paperwhite get the deepest percentage cuts, the Scribe gets the biggest dollar cut as a bundle.
| Model | 2025 regular price | Black Friday 2025 low | Cut |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kindle (16 GB) | $109.99 | $79 | about 28% |
| Kindle Paperwhite (16 GB) | $159.99 | $124 to $129.99 | about 20 to 22% |
| Paperwhite Signature Edition | $199.99 | $154.99 | about 22% |
| Kindle Colorsoft (16 GB) | $249.99 | $169 | about 32% |
| Kindle Scribe Essentials Bundle (64 GB) | $569 bundle | $339 | about 40% |
The 2026 lineup launched at higher regular prices (Kindle $149.99, Paperwhite $199.99, Paperwhite Signature Edition $249.99, Colorsoft from $289.99, Scribe from $429.99), so the dollar floors will sit higher this year even if the percentage cuts repeat. A 20 to 22% cut on the new Paperwhite lands around $155 to $160; a 28% cut on the new base Kindle lands around $105 to $115.
Treat these as a floor to aim for, not a promise. Amazon sets the actual prices, and they can land a few dollars either side. Judge a 2026 deal by the percentage cut, not the 2025 dollar figure: if it takes 20 to 30% off the new regular price, buy; if it is only ten dollars under regular, wait, because the sale runs a full week and prices move.
When the Deals Start
Amazon’s Black Friday Kindle pricing has started before the Friday itself in recent years and has run through Cyber Monday. In 2025 the Paperwhite was already at its sale price in the week before Thanksgiving. Set a price alert or check the Kindle page from the Monday before Black Friday onward, and do not assume the Friday itself is the cheapest day.
How to Avoid Overpaying
- Know the regular price. A “deal” that matches the normal price is not a deal. The table above is your reference.
- Compare like for like. The cheaper listings are the versions with lock-screen ads. Removing ads costs extra, and the without-ads version is sometimes discounted less. Decide which you want before the sale.
- Watch the whole sale window. Deals often start early and run through Cyber Monday, and a model that sells out can come back at a different price.
- Check the bundle math. A Kindle bundled with a case and a power adapter is sometimes better value than the device alone, but only if you wanted that case. The Scribe is usually sold as a bundle during the sale.
- Refurbished is a real option. Amazon’s certified refurbished Kindles are often discounted on top of the sale and carry the same return window.
Do Not Forget the Extras
Accessories and subscriptions also go on sale:
- A case protects your new Kindle, see our best Kindle cases roundup. Third-party cases on Amazon tend to be discounted the same week.
- Kindle Unlimited usually runs a promotional offer for new subscribers around Black Friday, worth it if you read a lot (is Kindle Unlimited worth it).
- Audible runs a similar new-member promotion most years, useful if the Kindle is for a commuter who switches between reading and listening.
Kindle or Kobo?
If you are open to alternatives, Kobo also discounts around Black Friday, usually a smaller percentage than Amazon but on devices with fewer strings attached. Our Kindle vs Kobo comparison and best e-readers guide cover the full field so you can grab whichever hits the best price.
The Bottom Line
Black Friday is the best time of year to buy a Kindle. Decide on your model now using our which Kindle should you buy guide, note the 2026 regular price and last year’s percentage cut, and only pull the trigger when the discount is in that range. Do that and you will get the Kindle you actually want at the best price of the year.
